🍞 Our Daily Bread Review: Izzio Artisan Bakery – Everything Sourdough⭐⭐1/2
This loaf from Izzio Artisan Bakery caught my eye at Meijer because, well, I can’t resist anything that says “everything” on it. Garlic, onion, seeds? I’m in. And it’s a true sourdough made with just flour, water, and salt, no preservatives, no extras. I respect that. But after trying it, I have mixed feelings.

Nutrition-wise, two slices are 120 calories, with 4 grams of protein and no added sugar. And because there are no preservatives, you’ve got about a week to finish the loaf before it starts molding.
Final thoughts? I wanted to love it. I really did. But for me, this one falls into the “good, not great” category.
Here’s what I’ve found:
- Untoasted: It’s fine, but nothing exciting. Too soft, too plain.
- Toasted: Much better. A little more flavor, a little more structure.
- Best use: This bread shines as a breakfast sandwich or avocado toast bread. It’s great for a tuna sandwich, too.
- Skip it for: Grilled cheese. It just doesn’t have that crisp, buttery crunch I want when I press down the sandwich.
My rating: ⭐⭐½ (2.5 stars)
Good ingredients, soft texture, but not enough flavor or crunch to win me over.

Taste Test
Let’s start with the good: this bread keeps it real just flour, water, and salt. A true sourdough, naturally fermented, with no preservatives. This is hard to find in the bread aisle where bread is never what it says it is and is loaded with preservatives.
The everything seasoning of poppy, flax, garlic, and onion is also a nice, basic combo that adds a touch of flavor without overpowering the loaf.
Now for the texture: very soft, almost too soft for sourdough. Think more white Wonder Bread than the chewy, crusty sourdough I usually crave. It’s got a light chew, but it’s missing that satisfying bite you get from a traditional rustic loaf.
Flavor-wise, it’s… okay. Not bad, not great. It lacks that sourdough “spark.” There’s a slight chemical or sour-garlic note that throws me off and I can’t quite decide if it’s the tang of the starter or something from the seasoning mix, but either way, it’s distracting.

Best Ways to Eat It
Untoasted, it’s just too soft and plain for my taste. But toasted, it improves, it is still soft in the middle, but better flavor overall. It makes a solid avocado toast or breakfast sandwich (I’m talking egg + avocado + maybe a dash of garlic chili crunch).
It also works for a tuna salad sandwich, which I personally think is best served on soft white bread, as it is a good substitute for this texture.
But for grilled cheese? Nope. It doesn’t have the crunch or sturdiness I want from a good toasty melt.

Would I Buy It Again? Meh, maybe, but I think there is better Everything Sourdough bread options out there.
Final Thoughts
This one’s not love at first bite for me. While it’s soft and clean-ingredient friendly, it just doesn’t pack the bold sourdough punch I was hoping for. Online reviewers rave about it, so maybe it’s a personal preference thing but for me, it’s missing that “wow”.
If you like a milder, softer sourdough for simple sandwiches or breakfast toasts, it’s worth trying. But if you want that artisan crunch and tang, you might want to pass.
